ANG MO KIO DISTRICT to SPEND A WEEK IN SUBIC

The Ang Mo Kio District of the Singapore Scout Association, through the initiative of Sctr. Marcos N. Soriano, Sr. (District Leader), is planning to visit the James L. Gordon Council and conduct JOINT activities from May 26-31, 2008. The small contingent will be composed of 60 participants (Adult Leaders and Young Scouts).


According to Sctr. Soriano the group's objective are as follow:

1. Establish links with the James L. Gordon Council Scouts and Scouters.
2. Explore Olongapo City, the Subic Bay Freeport and Undergo
Jungle Environment Survival Training.
3. Explore Mount Pinatubo.
4. Carry out a service project that would benefit the indigents in Olongapo City.

Recently, Sctr. Soriano, Sr. and his son Marcos, Jr. visited the council last December 2007 during the Council Jamborette held at Columban College, Barretto, Olongapo City and had a friendship dinner with some of the council officers. Present during the dinner are the following:

The council is looking forward to make this JOINT activity serve as start of a longterm partneship with the ANG MO KIO DISTRICT.

12 EAGLE SCOUTS CANDIDATES TO TAKE THE
NATIONAL BOARD OF REVIEW


After more than 24 months of advancement process and years of scouting (unrecorded) activities. Twelve (12) names emerged as final candidates for the National Board of Review for Eagle Scout Rank this March 14, 2008.


They are:

The Council sponsored advancement training started with 36 candidates from among thousands of Senior scouts from the council and found the final 12 to be ready and worthy of being an Eagle Scout, a very exceptional distinction for young leaders.

JAMES L. GORDON COUNCIL TO HOST THE
2008 REGIONAL SCOUTS YOUTH FORUM
March 14-16, 2008, Columban Hotel, Bo. Barretto, Olongapo City
22 Councils from two of the most active scouting regions, the Central Luzon and the National Capital Region will all play part in this year's Regional Scouts Youth Forum. At least 80 Young leaders will be travelling from all corners of the two participating regions bound to Olongapo City, the venue of the annual youth event.
